Neue Flügel

kaum dass ich es auf ravelry gesehen hatte, war ich sofort sicher, dieses tuch stricken zu müssen. und tat es. ich hatte kurz vorher ein knäuel von der guten atelier zitron wolle gekauft, die ich nun dafür verwenden konnte. als der "wingspan" dann fertig war, fand ich die form und strickweise wohl toll, den grau/khaki farbverlauf aber trist, drum habe ich das ganze mit türkisem baumwollgarn aufgepeppt. und nun sah's auch für mich gut aus. ich habe diesen schal an meinen ex-mann verschenkt, der dandy genug ist, das tuch so zu tragen :-)

as soon as i had seen it on 'ravelry' i was fond of knitting this scarf - and did it. i had recently bought a ball of nice 'atelier zitron' wool which i now could use for it. when the "wingspan" was finished 

i found the shape and knitting nice but the greyish colourflow a little sad , so i beefed it up a little with some turquoise cotton yarn. i have given this scarf to my ex-husband, who is dandy enough to wear it  :-)

Bouclé-Wolle selbst gesponnen

vor einiger zeit hatte mir eine spinnkollegin erzählt, wie sie bouclé-wolle selbst spinnt. ich hab dann nochmal im internet abgespickt und es dann selbst versucht (siehe hier: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Te7xp8NT334 und http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G4Vvt_1YUS0&feature=relmfu).

als wolle fuer diese experiment habe ich wieder wensleydale-wolle von birgit's bock seamus (http://ovis-ridens.blogspot.de/p/wensleydale-longwool.html) gewählt und hinterher mit 10er nadeln ein ganz einfaches schälchen draus gestrickselt.

for this experiment i had chosen wool from birgit's wensleydale ram 'seamus' again (see link above).

Nessie mit Schuppen

als ich die 'nessie' auf ravelry (muster von julia zahle) sah, wusste ich, dass ich sie stricken musste. es gab so viele tolle nessies von anderen strickerinnen mit blütenkelchen, blumenköpfchen und sonstigem gebimsel dran - es war einfach toll. natürlich musste ich auch etwas extra draufstricken - in meinem fall schuppen (oder blätter - whatsoever). was ich unterschätzte war die enorme menge an wolle, die dabei draufging. ich hatte - so dachte ich - genügend foxleydale-wolle (eine kreuzung von wensleydale und coburger fuchs, siehe ovis ridens) gewaschen, gekämmt und gefärbt (etwa 200 g in orange/gelb), aber mittendrin musste ich noch einen kammzug alpaka (100 g in lila) opfern, den mir mein bruder zu weihnachten geschenkt hatte. und als der dann auch weggestrickt war, musste noch etwas blaue wensleydale wolle dran glauben. das tuch ist richtig lang und schwer geworden. und ist ein echter hingucker :-)

when i saw  the 'Nessie' on 'ravelry' (pattern by julia zahle), i knew that i had to knit it. there were so many great nessies from other knitters with calyx, flower heads and other nice bits and pieces - it was just great. of course i wanted to knit something extra on it, too. so i added scales and/or leaves. i had underestimated the enormous amount of wool which was needed. i thought to have enough foxleydale wool (an intersection of wensleydale and coburg fox , see the 'ovis ridens'-link above), so i  washed about 200 g of that wool, combed it and colored in orange / yellow.  but in the middle of the project i noticed that i needed to sacrifice another 100 g purple alpaca fibers (it was a christmas present from my brother). and as this was used up, too, some other blue wensleydale wool had to bite the dust. the shawl has become really long and heavy. and it is a real eye-catcher :-)

Drama Queen

der geburtstag meiner nichte rückte immer näher, und ich hatte noch keine idee, was ich ihr stricken sollte, als ich einen mystery-kal auf ravelry für eine kinderjacke sah ('my honey' von elena nodel). die jacke zu stricken war ein einziger spass, die anleitung gut verständlich, und zu allem überfluss fand ich in meinem fundus auch noch den unten abgebildeten stass-schriftzug. der angeblich ganz passend für meine kleine nichte ist, wie man mir zutrug ...so, so  :-)

the birthday of my niece was approaching and i had no idea what to knit for her until i found the adequate mystery-knitaling on "ravelry". it was a children's cardigan calles 'my honey' by Elena Nodel. knitting the jacket was one fun, the instructions were easy to understand, and apart from that i found the right rhinestone-letters. allegedly very suitable for my little niece, as i was told ... so, so... 

Mein feiner Lace-Loop

es stand ein neues mystery von birgit freyer an: das 'donna rocco' muster als loop. aber gerne. auf ravelry gab es schon sehr schöne schals mit dem muster zu betrachten. und die passende wolle hatte ich auch, da meine kollegin anja mir vor kurzem noch sehr feines lace 'von manos de uruguay' in zweierlei farben verkaufte, die ihre mutter bei der auflösung ihres handarbeitsgeschäfts nicht losgeworden ist. zudem hatte ich ein gratis-knäuel 'filace-lucca' von birgit freyer zugeschickt bekommen, das farblich und von der garnstärke perfekt passte.

a new mystery knitalong by birgit freyer was due: the 'donna rocco' pattern as a loop. oh yes. on ravelry there were already very nice shawls in this pattern on display. and i already possessed matching wool since my colleague anja recently ahd sold me very fine lace yarn by 'manos de uruguay' in two colors. moreover, i had a free-hank 'filace-lucca'  from birgit freyer which perfectly fitted in yarn size and color.

Blue Rose Loop

letztens sass ich in der bahn einer jungen frau gegenüber, die einen schulterloop trug, den ich schön fand. ganz einfach gestrickt mit etwas grober rippenstruktur und an einer stelle gerafft mit ein paar strickblüten. ich habe mir das ding eine weile angesehen und es nach meinem geschmack nachgestrickt. verwendet habe ich ein graues schurwoll-viscose garn von lana grossa und zweierlei mohairwolle unbekannter herkunft (lag schon seit mehr als 10 jahren bei mir herum):

in a railway i recently sat opposite of a young woman who wore a nice shoulder loop. it was a simple pattern in a chunky ribbed structure with some knitted flowers/roses attached at one side. i had a close look at it and back at home i knitted it. for this project i used a gray wool-viscose yarn (lana grossa) and two mohair yarns of unknown origin (i had it in my stash already more than 10 years).

Giftig, giftig: Kaschmir - Seide - BFL

schöner geht's nicht. ich hatte mir vorgenommen, ein ganz besonders feines und luxuriöses garn zu spinnen und kardierte kaschmir, seide und blue faced leicester zu gleichen teilen zu einem ultraweichen vlies. und färbte es gelb-grün. ziemlich giftig also. ich entschied mich für den halbrund-schal 'gaudymanie' von birgit freyer, erlaubte mir aber die zwischenräume zwischen den lace-teilen mit stiefmütterchen-intarsien aus handgesponnener schurwolle in knalligen farben aufzupeppen.

it could not be any nicer. i intented to spin a particularly fine and luxurious yarn, so i carded cashmere, silk and blue faced leicester in equal parts to an ultra soft fleece. and colored it yellow-green: pretty toxic! i opted for the half-round scarf 'gaudymanie' by birgit freyer, but altered the original pattern by knitting pansies into the interspaces between the lace parts. for these i used handspun wool in bright colors.

Strickrausch - der Wahnsinn

beim stöbern durchs netz traf ich auf eine website (http://www.strickrausch.de/), die mich überhaupt nicht mehr losliess. frau kluge aus berlin hat eine ganz eigene, wunderbare art und kunst des strickens in die welt geschickt. ich war so fasziniert, dass ich mittels der kostenlosen lehrvideos auf dieser website den folgenden poncho gestrickt habe. verwendet habe ich ausschliesslich handgesponnene garne, teilweise handgefärbte. merino, neuseelandwolle und etwas kaschmir. das ganze strickwerk ist ein kunststück geworden, eigentlich zu schade zum tragen. nachdem der poncho für mich selbst aber etwas zu klein war, machte ich ihn meiner schwester ulla zum geburtstagsgeschenk. ich hoffe, sie weiss ihn zu schätzen.

while browsing through the net i came across a website (http://www.strickrausch.de/) that really fascinated me . mrs. kluge from berlin has sent out to the world a very unique and wonderful technique and art of knitting. i was so mesmerized that i knitted this poncho sitting every evening in front of my laptop watching the free tutorial videos on her website. i have used hand-spun yarn only, partly hand-dyed: merino wool, new zealand wool and some cashmere. the finished poncho has really become a piece of art, actually too good to wear. since the poncho unfortunately was a bit too small for myself, i gave it to my sister ulla for birthday. i hope she knows to appreciate it :-)

Eine Lace-Jacke?

und loch an loch wärmt doch. da hatte ich diese wunderbare sockenwolle "colourflow" gekauft, die man aber bloss nicht zu socken verstricken durfte, da zu weich. die socken würden sich ruck-zuck durchreiben. tja. ich hatte irgendwann das jackenmuster "overlook" von birgit freyer gesehen, das ich immer mal wieder auf dem radar, aber nie gestrickt hatte. ich verstrickte also das 'nichtsockengarn' zusammen mit lila baumwolle und umhäkelte das machwerk mit krebsmaschen. i like it.

and hole to hole still keeps you warm... i had bought this wonderful sock wool "color flow" which cannot be knit to socks since the yarn is too soft and the socks would wear-up soon. oh well. 

it was a longer time ago that i had detected the cardigan pattern "overlook" by birgit freyer which i had on my radar since ever then. and now for this project i used my "non-sock"-yarn together with some purple cotton and crocheted the borders with crab stitches. i like it.

10-stitch-pillow

ein kissen, eine decke, was auch immer, mit immer nur 10 masche auf der nadel? ja, geht. gefunden habe ich es auf ravelry. ausserdem in internet bei elizzza, die hervorragende strickvideos macht (youtube). ich habe mich also erst einmal an einem kissen versucht, und es hat geklappt. das ist ideal, um die ganzen kleinen und mittleren garnreste zu verwerten. die materialien sind egal, hauptsache, sie haben alle in etwa die gleiche garnstärke. hier habe ich selbstgesponnenes mit gekauftem garn gleichermassen verwendet. die hinterseite wurde mit meliertem sockengarn gestrickt, daher langweilig und kein foto wert. die idee fand ich aber so gut, dass ich bereits angefangen habe, eine decke - allerdings rund - nach der gleichen methode zu stricken. aber dazu irgendwann in der zukunft, wenn sie fertig ist ...

a pillow, a blanket, whatever, with only 10 stitches on the needle? yes, this works out. i found it on ravelry. also available in the internet at eliZZZa, who shows excellent knitting tutorial videos on youtube. this pillow is my first try using this technique, and for my opinion it works out fine. this is a great way to use up all the small and medium yarn left overs from former projects as long as you use similar yarn size. here i have used homespun yarn as well as purchased yarn. the backside was knitted with mottled sock yarn. i liked the idea so much that i have already started a round blanket using the same technique. but there is still a long, long way to go ...

Ein Weihnachtstuch für mich

"nacht über bethlehem" hiess ein mystery-kal in ravelry. das hat mich neugierig gemacht, und ausserdem war ich wirklich in weihnachtsstimmung. ich wollte kerzen, äpfel, lebkuchen haben und warmes zeug stricken. tatsächlich wurde es ein weihnachtliches stück. mit sternchen...ach. ausserdem mochte ich den mix verschiedener stricktechniken und -richtungen. gestrickt habe ich mit sockenwolle "colour flow" von FERNER und irgend etwas dunkelblauem aus meinem fundus.

"night over bethlehem" was a mystery-kal in ravelry which perfectly fitted to the christmas spirit all around. i was fond of candles, apples, gingerbread knitting warm winter clothes. in fact it became a real "christmas piece" ... oh. also i liked the mix of different knitting techniques in different directions. it is made form a sock wool called "colour flow" (by FERNER) and some dark blue wool from my stash.

Hippie-Jacke mit BFL-Locken

beim aldi gab's mal wieder wolle. sogar mal mit einem richtig hohen schurwoll-anteil. na, gratulation. ich ging der farbe und dem schurwoll-anteil auf den leim und kaufte ein paar pakete, da ich mir eine längere jacke stricken wollte. ich fand ein passendes zopfmuster, das mit der dicken wolle richtig gut aussah, und es ging los. bis die jacke fertig war habe ich jeden meter des aldi-garns verflucht, weil die wolle fusselt wie blöd. die haben allerkürzeste fasern(reste) verwendet und einfach zu einem dochtgarn gedreht. na toll. überall flogen (und fliegen auch heute noch) die fussel in der wohnung herum. ein großes wunder, dass aus dem mist eine jacke geworden ist. um das gute stück aufzuwerten (denn das war nötig), stellte ich ein arty-yarn aus bfl (blue-faced leicester) und - teils bunt gefärbten - bfl-locken her und gestaltete damit kragen, ärmel und unteren rand der jacke. hippie also. dazu fand ich noch schöne knöpfe in internet. mittlerweile habe ich mich mit der jacke  - vielmehr der wolle - ausgesöhnt und trage sie sehr gerne mit stiefeln und nickelbrille... nee, doch nicht nickelbrille ...

'aldi' supermarket offered wool with pretty high real wool rate (in comparison to polyester). congrats. i was hookwinded by it and bought a couple of  packages to knit a long-jacket. i found a matching cable pattern which liked together with the bulky wool and it went off. until the jacket was finished i cursed every meter of  that cheap yarn since the wool was fuzzing like crazy. during knitting the fibers flew all through the house (and they still do). it's a miracle that there became a jacket out of this crap at all. to upvalue the good piece (yes, that was necessary), i spun an arty-yarn from bfl (blue-faced leicester) and some brightly colored bfl-curls and worked all borders and the collar with it. hippie-style. in the internet i found the matching buttons. meanwhile i reconciled with the jacket - rather than the wool - and wear it happily with boots and metal rims... . no, not metal rims ...

Ein Schal für's Grobe

eines schönen tages fuhr ich mit meinem ehemaligen freund im hunsrück herum. er wollte mir einen schönen pferdehof zeigen, der neben pferden auch galloway-rinder, schafe und sonstiges getier beherbergte. ich fragte die besitzerin nach der schafwolle, und tatsächlich hatte sie alle geschorene wolle in säcken gehortete, weil sie sie nicht verkaufen konnte. ich suchte mir das weichste vlies heraus (ein braun-weißes). zur rasse konnte sie mir nichts sagen, man nannte das schaf den "afrikaner". hä? ich hab nix davon verstanden, war aber glücklich um die fette, relativ weiche wolle. ich finde, der "afrikaner" (immernoch hä?) ließ sich gut verarbeiten, und ich habe mir einen richtig dicken, breiten, langen winterschal im halbpatentmuster mit großen nadeln (6er) daraus gestrickt. und es ist immernoch einiges von der wolle übrig. mal sehen, was eines tages daraus wird.

one fine day my former boy-friend and i drove around in the Hünsrück. he wanted to show me a beautiful farm with horses, galloway-cattle, sheep and other animals. when i saw the sheep i asked the owner for the fleeces whereof i could buy the best/softest. he could not tell my anything about the breed, he just called it the 'african'. (huh?) i dont have any idea what he meant but was happy having bought it. i could spin and knit the "african" (still huh?) very well, and i worked a really big, broad, long winter scarf in half patent pattern with large needles (6) of it. there is still some of the wool left. let's see i will do with it some day.

Elfenstille

und noch ein neues mystery, das verheissungsvoll klang: elfenstille. wie schön. ich hatte noch einen größeren rest von teurem lace-garn, das ich in diesem tuch mit handgesponnenen (und handgefärbten) garnen und einem kleinen rest sockenwolle kombinieren wollte. gesagt, getan. sehr kuschelig ist es geworden. das einzige problem war der mustersatz, über dem ich wirklich lange saß, bevor ich verstanden hatte, wie das ganze zusammengehörte, obgleich alles gar nicht so kompliziert aussah (http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/elfenstille):

and a new, promising mystery knitalong called 'elfenstille'. how nice. i had wanted to use up some nice , expensice lace yarn lefties and combine them with handpun and hand-dyed wool and a left-over of sock-wool from my stash. no sooner said than done! the shawl is very cozy. the only problem was the pattern, i really racked my brain over it until i understood  what the author meant...

Sisyphos mit Wensleydale

ich hatte noch wunderschöne wensleydale-locken von birgit, die eine schöne verwendung finden sollte. und da kam das neue mystery "mon bijou" von birgit freyer raus. ich habe keine ahnung, wie lange ich mit locken waschen, trocknen, kämmen, grübeln, nochmal kämmen, grübeln, färben, nochmal grübeln, hauchdünn verspinnen und letztenendes verstricken (und in die randspitze perlen einarbeiten) gebraucht habe, aber heraus kam ein so festliches tuch, dass ich es zu mehreren gelegenheiten weihnachten tragen konnte.

i still had beautiful wensleydale raw wool from which i wanted to fabricate something special. fortunately another mystery knitalong (called 'mon bijou') by birgit freyer started. i really don't know how long it took me to wash the wool, dry it, comb it, think about it, dye it, spin it, think about it again and finally knit this ambitious shawl out of it. with lots of beads in the border. but the result was a really festive piece which i could wear at several occations already.

Ein Loop für alle Fälle

einen loop hatte ich bis dahin noch nicht gestrickt und war daher der meinung, einen zu brauchen. ich hatte aber keine lust, extra neues garn dafür zu kaufen, also wühlte ich in meinem fundus. verwendet habe ich ein dickes seiden/viscose-garn zusammen mit einem sockengarn unbekannter herkunft, für die ränder kam als kontrast ein fransengarn in frage. auf den fotos sieht der loop nach nichts aus, aber getragen wirkt er sehr schön, vor allem kann man ihn sich bei schnee/regen/graupel über den kopf ziehen. das muster war von birgit freyer und hieß "loop luftikus".

i never had knitted a loop but thought i needed one. since i was not keen on spending money for extra yarn i had a look in my stash and found a bulky silk/viscose yarn and knitted it together with a sock yarn of unknown origin. for the border i found a contracting fringed yarn. on the photos the loop does not look very exciting, but wearing it it really looks beautiful and it is very practical in autumn and winter. the pattern was by birgit freyer called "loop luftikus".

Vincent goes Hippie

und weil's so schön war, strickte ich den "vincent" gleich nochmal... nein, ganz so war es nicht. mein nachbar christian, der unbedingt stricken lernen wollte und dazu immer teures garn kaufte, das ihm hinterher nicht mehr gefiel oder er es nicht mehr zu verwenden wusste, schenkte mit einen crazy zauberball in farben, die ich persönlich grausam fand. aber er wusste es mal wieder besser. das ergebnis war, dass ich die wolle bekam, weil ihm sein gestricksel nicht mehr gefiel. hm - toll. da stand ich nun - und fand die wolle immer noch doof. ich habe dann herumexperimentiert, einen teil des "vincent"-musters von monika eckert gestrickt und dann fransen und zöpfe drangeschraubt, als abzusehen war, dass mir die wolle ausging. letzten endes ist doch noch ein hippes teil draus geworden. juhu.

and because it was so nice, i knit the "vincent" once again. almost... the truth was thaht my neighbor christian wanted to learn to knit and always bought the most expensive yarns which he did not like anymore after a weak. so he have me this ball of 'magiz zauberball' from 'schoppel' wool. to be honest i did not like the colours at all, nevertheless experimented with it, knitted a 'short-version' of the 'vincent'.pattern and put braids and fringed on it. now i like it :-) yay!

Halloween Mystery Vincent

ein neues mystery - ach ja: "vincent" von monika eckert. ich hatte noch schönes garn von lana grossa und begab mich an die arbeit. ich habe ewig daran gestrickt, und es wurde auch riesig groß (und bein spannen wuchs es noch ein bisschen mehr...). wenn ich es umlege, geht es mit bis in die kniekehle. es trägt sich daher am besten mir höheren stiefeln - dann sieht's aber klasse aus :-)

a new mystery - oh yes: the name of the pattern is "vincent" by monika eckert. i had beautiful yarn from 'lana grossa'  in my stash and started working on it right away. it took me ages to knit it and it was also huge in size (and after blocking it was even larger...). wearing it, it goes right up to my knees - therefore i need to wear boots with higher heels.. then it looks fine!

Und noch eine Windsbraut

ja, mich hat die windsbraut-euphorie gepackt. ich musste gleich noch eine stricken, wieder ein modell von monika eckert - sommerwind. und wieder musste ein knäuel "wunderklecks" von schoppel herhalten. kaum hatte ich dieses tüchlein fertig, da ging es schon in den besitz meiner freundin bernadette über :-)

yes, i am addicetd to 'windsbraut'-patterns nowadays. i wanted to knit another one of these, again a model from monika eckert  called ' summer wind'. and again i used a gradient coloured ball from 'Schoppel' . and as soon as i had finished this lottle shawlette by friend bernadette bought it...

Meine erste Windsbraut

ich hatte irgendwann einmal ein knäuel toller schoppel-wolle (wenn ich mich nicht irre) mit feinem farbverlauf gekauft, für das ich eigentlich keine verwendung hatte, da ich für tücher normalerweise etwas mehr wolle benötige. beim stöbern im internet stiess ich auf diverse windsbraut-muster von monika eckert, die mir sehr gefielen - und ausserdem reichte dafür meine wolle :-)
hier also meine erste windsbraut in beerentönen:

Once i had bought a ball of beautiful 'Schoppel'-wool (if i am not all wrong) with fine gradient colours, for which i had no proper use since for knitting a shawl i usually needs more than one ball.

by investigating in the internet i found various 'windsbraut' patterns by monika eckert. so here is my first 'windsbraut' shawlette in wild berry colour grading.
